And More For Monday
Quick items of note this day, in roughly the order I noticed them:
- Help Desk on Eric Burns‘s evil plot to mine your data.
- Sheldon and Unshelved: two strips enter (the arena of jokes that refer to coffee-cup lids), one strip leaves.
- Speaking of both those strips, their creators were involved in the party shown here (photos by Scott Kurtz).
- The old Mac Hall site keeps gettin’ hacked, but fortunately Three Panel Soul is still up and running. Seriously, hacker-types? Attacking a webcomic that’s over and done? That’s messed up.
- Isn’t he supposed to catch on fire or something? Randy Milholland to speak in a church, Easter weekend no less.
- And via ¡Journalista!: Tom Spurgeon‘s best comics for calendar year 2006, featuring webcomics standouts The PBF at #43 and The GOF at #20.
It’s not usually a targeted attack, more likely a bot trolling servers for known vulnerabilities. In fact, over the last few days, defacers have been defacing over each others’ defacement. The Libyans finally came out on top.
Anyway, same as all the other times this has happened, the site contents are undamaged. This sort of thing is trivial to fix if you have a decent amount of access to the server, which we don’t. So instead of calling up our dude again, we’re moving over to Dreamhost with a new backend.
